How can you tell if your ink cartridge is low?<\/b><\/h2>\n

Not every printer will be so clear cut about it \u2013 but one of the things we love the most about Brother printers in particular is that they have super clear displays that make it simple to interpret what is going on. Brother printers each have an LCD screen that will pop up with a notification when the levels in one or more of your cartridges is getting low.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But you may have found your way here because you\u2019ve noticed some of the tell-tale signs that your printer cartridges are getting low. By that, we mean that you might have noticed some patchiness or off hues \u2013 without your printer telling you anything.<\/span><\/p>\n

Checking your printer ink levels manually<\/b><\/h2>\n

Depending on whether your Brother printer has a touch screen or not, there are two ways to manually check the ink levels on your printer without actually opening up your printer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For regular screens:<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Press the \u2018Menu\u2019 button<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Press either \u2018Up\u2019 or \u2018Down\u2019 until you get to \u2018Ink\u2019 or \u2018Ink Management\u2019. Press \u2018OK\u2019.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Press either \u2018Up\u2019 or \u2018Down\u2019 until you reach \u2018Ink Volume\u2019.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. There you\u2019ll see how each cartridge is fairing. Press \u2018Exit\u2019 or \u2018Stop\u2019 to back out.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    For touch screens:<\/span><\/p>\n

    1. Press either \u2018Left\u2019 or \u2018Right\u2019 arrow keys until \u2018Ink\u2019 is displayed.<\/span><\/li>\n
    2. Press the image with the row of colours.<\/span><\/li>\n
    3. Press \u2018Up\u2019 or \u2018Down\u2019 until you reach \u2018Ink Volume\u2019. Press \u2018Ink Volume\u2019<\/span><\/li>\n
    4. There you will see how much ink each cartridge has left.<\/span><\/li>\n
    5. Press \u2018Stop\u2019 or \u2018Exit\u2019 to resume normal.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
